With the aim of creating a picturebook for my final major project, I felt that it was time to update my software skills in Adobe Indesign. I must admit, my knowledge of this software is rather limited. In the past, I've purposely avoided using Indesign, and have instead favoured other programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Over recent weeks, I've learnt how important this piece of software really is, as it's used largely across my discipline. A good understanding of this software is expected in the freelance world. I don't want to limit my future opportunities because I'm unable to work this program. With the arrival of digital skills week, now seemed like the perfect opportunity to develop my software abilities. I discovered a selection of online video's providing step-by-step tutorials in each adobe program. I wanted to take advantage of these materials, whilst I still could.
Overall, I found these tutorials really easy to follow and convenient to watch. I decided to start from the basics and gradually make my way up. Each video was around 5 minutes, as they didn't feel like a long process to get through. After every section, there was a small quiz at the end. This was really helpful, as it was good to reiterate what I had just learnt. I definitely feel more confident using this problem, where I can now apply this knowledge to my work.
